Sequestrum Formation in Fibrous Dysplasia

Abstract
Fibrous dysplasia is a benign nonfamilial disorder of the skeleton characterized: by hamartomatous proliferation of fibrous tissue and it¢¥s occurrence is not uncommon, in bone disorders.
The skeletal lesions of fibrous dysplasia can present wide variation of roentgenographic manifestation, depending on the distribution of fibrous tissue, the amount and configuration of the metaplastic bone, and effect of this tissue on the neighbouring cortical bone. Very rarely sequestrum was formed in the lesion.
There is no report in the English literature since Pratt et al had reported 2 cases of fibrous dysplasia which formed sequestrum.
Present authors present a case of fibrous dysplasia which formed the large sequestrum in the lesion.
